Steps to reproduce (from the README):

$ git clone https://github.com/wjwwood/serial.git
$ cd serial
$ make

Output:

cd build && cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/tmp/usr/local ..
CMake Deprecation Warning at CMakeLists.txt:1 (cmake_minimum_required):
  Compatibility with CMake < 2.8.12 will be removed from a future version of
  CMake.

  Update the VERSION argument <min> value or use a ...<max> suffix to tell
  CMake that the project does not need compatibility with older versions.

Running on the Ubuntu 23.04, with the following versions:

$ cmake --version
cmake version 3.25.1

CMake suite maintained and supported by Kitware (kitware.com/cmake).
$ /usr/bin/c++ --version
Ubuntu clang version 15.0.7
Target: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu
Thread model: posix
InstalledDir: /usr/bin
