Hi,
I had to re-image my desktop linux, ubuntu 20.04 and I?m trying to put my life back together.
Running build_visit is failing due to the Pillow failing. It?s building python3 (aka, I?m using
?system-python)
The error log is below.

Hi Dave,

I usually try to use the third party library builds with multiple builds of VisIt. In this case I
built all the third party libraries with build_visit3_1_3 and then manually built visit3.1.4 against
them. The following should work.

./build_visit3_1_4 --required --optional --mesagl --mpich --uintah --no-icet --no-moab --no-pidx

The issue that I?m getting is that it cannot build Pillow. Has anyone seen this?
I had to re-install Ubuntu this week and so I might be missing some packages.. But I can?t determine
what I?m missing..

I suspect the issue is from using the system python.

Here is how I set up my ubuntu 20 container.

Trying this now. However, I just noticed that 3.1.4 uses qt 5.10 and the develop branch uses 5.14.
James Kress and I have had major heartburn trying to get qt5.14 to work (and I?m having the Pillow
issue)
Will current develop branch work on qt5.10 ?

Thanks for the container commands and for creating the downloadable
executables.? In the past I've also battled compiling VisIt on various
Debian/Ubuntu distributions.? Having the container commands you used to
create the executables in an accessible location would be very helpful.

Hi Todd,

The container commands for building containers with all the third party libraries are in GitHub at:

https://github.com/visit-dav/visit/tree/develop/scripts/docker

I then use those containers to build visit distributions. Since the third party libraries don't
change that frequently, I can usually create several distributions from a container.
