Greetings VisIt Developers,

I've downloaded and installed VisIt 3.1.1 using the installation script
from the LLNL web page. The OS is Debian 10, buster, stable. When I fire
up VisIt it returns:

/usr/..../3.1.1/linux-x86_64/bin/gui: error while loading shared
libraries: libicui18n.so.57: cannot open shared object file: No such
file or directory

Below are all of the *.so files pointing to an older library:

Greeting VisIt Developers,

I'm trying to compile VisIt 3.1.1 on a machine running stock Debian 10
(stable) using:

/build_visit --parallel --fortran --uintah --no-icet --mesagl --openssl
--llvm --system-cmake --no-visit --console --makeflags -j20

On the first attempt I ran into an error compiling python:

The solution was to install the libffi-dev package, as discussed at:

I'll try using the system's qt5 libraries. I'll verify that all the
libraries are installed by comparing the system's libs against what is
provided in:
