[Yoshino][Maple] Unable to unlock device once locked, display black dimming #449
Comments
@simonefil Can you share a |
Of course. I'd like to add that when the display is unlocked, while, for ex. scrolling a web page or a menu, there is a lot of tearing. Dmesg
|
Probably because tearcheck fails: Then:
Looks like this is where it starts, unless there's more. Looks like it's caused by ESD, but I'm not too familiar with the driver to say for sure. Is Stock Android working correctly? |
stock working with no problem. In sjllls' opinion the problem is due to "sde drivers" introduced recently. I'm fairly noob so hopefully he'll see the tag and he could give a more detailed answer/opinion. |
Yes, this is not happen on our system.img, it happens on all GSI. I think this problem is related with our SDE drivers. Not sure whether this is happens on tama platform, too. |
@MarijnS95 yupp it's a common issue that maple will sometimes "die in sleep" as my users call it. I sometimes notice the backlight comes back on but also sometimes doesn't then the device panics (I guess) and reboots. It is quicker to reboot/panic when you press the unlock but this can also happen during sleep too. Not sure if it's SDE or idle/suspend as I noticed the s2idle commit insta-panicking on lock. |
@MarijnS95 some BG info, I'm using sonyxperiadev/kernel#2025 too (since you mentioned the tearcheck). |
Yoshino should have gotten display updates in the meantime. Is this issue still present on 4.14 @simonefil ? |
Please retest latest 4.14 kernel and android 10 it should be fixed with: |
Platform: Yoshino
Device: Maple
Kernel version: 4.9
Android version: 9.0
Description
When display goes in stand-by (or i lock it manually), when I try to unlock the display stays black but the backlight starts dimming for some seconds. The only way to unlock the phone again is with an hard reboot.
Tryed using different GSI's
