I'd like to know (despite of the words of warning you say at the readme about the experimental status of this tool) if the current status of simplegit is "good enough" for being used with simple projects. For example, are you using simplegit for managing your own repositories? Or are you using the official git instead?
Also, I couldn't find any information about the license of the code (I'm interested in having a non-GPL alternative to git, so that's the reason why I ask).
Thanks!

I don't use simplegit myself regularly as the main target is AmigaOS which I develop for but often not use due to the lack of mobile hardware. I probably should use it on my Linux machine, that should give the development a further boost. It is actually a good idea.
Generally, being "good enough" is very subjective. I suggest to try it out and to file new Issues for anything you miss.
The state of the license is not 100% clear to be honest. I would prefer a non-GPL one, but I have to check whether this is possible. The project has been forked from other projects. Although not much is left from them, as they were really limited, it still need to be evaluated what kind of code they used in the first place.
