Problem Description

Synapse exceptions currently aren't being monitored. This has lead to some issues where it's difficult to pinpoint the source of a problem since getting access logs is a manual process.

One relatively easy option would be to run a Sentry instance and have the Matrix servers report to that. Would need configuration for the operators to opt out of.

Tasks

  • Decide if we want to run a Sentry instance
  • If above, add raven to the synapse logging config with optional opt-out for the operators.
  • Update instructions
