Update this module or deprecate/archive it

Currently this module has received little to no maintenance over the year and this is behind on pino v6. It needs an update to pino v9, ideally migrating the testing to node:test and a few other things to keep this modern.

If no volunteer shows up, we will likely archive this.

I am afraid that I won't find the time to volunteer for this :(. I also noticed that there are some issues when using this downstream in a ESM module - so I would like to fix this as well as a maintainer. Unfortunately I don't have the time at hand at the moment (probably in a few weeks from now)
