Patches needed to fix the Fedora rawhide build #1114

I feel like those three PRs in different repos should have on issue to link them all together and add some context so where we go:

I can't really say what caused this builds to fail, likely triggers are the switch from sdl2 to sdl2-compat (if I understand correctly that is sdl3 with a compatibility layer) and maybe gcc/libstd/whatever which has been upgraded from 14 to 15.

It is likely that other people on other platforms will have the same issues sooner or later, therefore I provided these PRs.

The error messages leading to those changes can probably still be collected from the build system's logs, let me know if you think that is worth it, I could add them to this issue for reference (and maybe search indexing).
