I don't know anything about DSP, but my guess is that these are DSP terms. Intuitively it sounds like something that's going to enhance or change the data it's applied to. I can see what's going on in the code (I don't know anything about C either), but would like a more formal idea or link to some source explaining excite to get a bigger picture understanding. Search engines aren't returning any useful results for "excite node" or "excite data". |

It's related to the vocoder effect. It requires two streams of input data - one is the the excite/modulator and the other is the source/carrier. For the effect to work there needs to be some nodes wired up to route the inputs into the effect, hence what those nodes are for. |
