Periodically running maintenance scripts would allow (a) configurations to stay up-to-date on the remote, in the event changes are made (b) software and utilities to be frequently updated (c) symlinks to remain valid in the event of moves/renames
Initially placing this on the '.zshrc' seemed like a good option, but may block the initialization of new sessions, especially when using many tabs on the terminal. Creating some sort of agent or daemon, maybe a persistent python script, may be with looking into as alternative options
