Stuck on "Firmware Update Mode" #14
Comments
I am also having the same problem as csanders01914 |
I am also having the same issue here. |
Same issue down to the T but I had a power outage when updating But am having same issue as above. |
I have done everything support has suggested multiple times and i am still having the same problem. |
i am having the exact same issue, can someone please help us/me? |
Same issue. Just dropping a comment so I get updates. |
Same here, just from a bootloader update. |
I downloaded the latest version of the keepkey updater app and all seemed to work eventually after multiple attempts. Not sure if this helps? |
It took me almost a hour and i basically had to disconnect net and clear cache and then attempted to run the updater while no net or anything running like 100 times which disconnecting and reconnecting my KK before the message finally came up for the correct Updater instructions to appear. |
Ive also done the same multiple times with no luck. Im gonna keep trying, hopefully it will work eventually. |
Same issue! |
I'm having the same issue and am disappointed to find that after 17 days there has been no solution here |
Got mine working. Had the same problem, I don't have my keepkey plugged in to the pc right now so some of the instructions are based on memory. If you click on the 'click here if instructed by tech support' it should open the menu to update bootloader, firmware or both. Make sure you have your backup sentence!! It worked for me with no issues. |
I hope this helps, i was stuck in the bootloader mode as well, and could
not get out of it. I had to goto github and download the new version (which
I had before without any success on getting "unstuck" in the bootloader
mode) essentially i tried installing it and reinstalling it multiple times,
and finally it did connect and I had to update the bootloader and firmware
parts separately, and it is finally working, so I do hope this helps the
other people that are seriously frustrated (and scared, i know i was,
thinking my funds are "stuck, or my keys got "wiped out", not a fun place
to be mentally.) It works just fine now, I hope everyone else gets their
issues fixed as well.

I tried this solution, and it worked for me...

Same Issue with 2.1.4 Updater. The bootloader updated successfully. Then when it comes to the Firmware it uploads then shows "firmware update complete" and rebooted and stuck at the "Almost Done" Screen. waited for an hour still nothing. Tried updating using MAC OSX 10.13 and also Windows 10. Both having the same problem. Tried many times still the same.HELP!!. |
I find it so ridiculous that Shapeshift Tech support says it could defective when it was working before the Update 2.1.4. |
As of August 28, 2022, this has worked for me. |
Keepkey device stuck on firmware update mode. what i can doing? |
Thanks so much!, this worked for me. |
A bit thank you to TxMike31!!!! This worked for me. Note that the problem seems to be that the install does both bootloader and firmware together (I thought I was doing it one at a time). It locks up upgrading the firmware. Claims it's done but it is not. You need to follow the link "click here if instructed by tech support" and choose load firmware (ONLY). This worked for me. |
I was having the same problem as all of you but figured it out finally. Go to shapeshift.com, scroll to the bottom and click on KeepKey. From there you can download the KeepKey desktop app which will allow you to update the bootloader and firmware. Then you can go back to shapeshift's dApp and connect to your KeepKey. Hope this is helpful! |
Thank you
All the Best.

When I plug my KeepKey device into my PC, it says
"Bootloader Update Complete
Your device will now restart"
It then goes to a screen that says
"Firmware Update Mode
Bootloader Version 2.1.4
Serial: **************************"
When I connect to Shapeshift, it tells me the bootloader is up to date but the firmware is not. It will not do anything other than show those screens even if i hold down the button when i plug it in or not.
EDIT:
This started after updating the Firmware.
