Is it compatible with s4 serial?

Apologies if this is not the right place to ask about this but I Am not able to find the info in the repo. I am wondering if this device could be connected to the s4 serial version using a serial cable and a serial to usb adapter. I have a s4 serial and would love to add Bluetooth functionality to my Waterrower and this solution would be a fantastic way to achieve this without changing the s4. Many thanks!!
