Definition

An RFC (or request for comments) is a request for agents to comment on a specific media item, or to participate in dialogue which is linked to a specific media item.

Notes

A specific RFC may function as an invitation instead of a request for most potential participants. However, each RFC functions as a request within a specific social context.

The Internet Engineering Task Force uses the term RFC according to their own unique specification. That specification is highly useful for IETF's goals; however, it's too specific for generic MOT use of the term "RFC".
