Here's a brief synopsis of how to use each of the files, and how well they
are working. Notice that many depend on being in a folder called work/,
directly beneath the main scripts directory (share/js/scripts/ in the release
build, liboh/plugins/js/scripts in the source build). Creating such a folder
and copying over all the .em files can frequently get rid of import errors.
axes.em
drag
handler.em
move.em
rotate.em
scale.em
dragControls.em
dragControls.js
Status: OUTDATED
This is an older version of restricted axis dragging, replaced by
Zhihong's line-drawing library in commit aaff917 (4 Aug 2011).
Getting it to work requires some intricate changes to
std/graphics/default.em to set up key bindings, though hopefully
the interface is somewhat straightforward if anyone is nostalgic for
the giant glowing axes that cover up people's screens when selected.
bankserver.em
state.em
statetest.em
Status: OUTDATED
An earlier version of the bank/object ownership code now developed
by Elliot Conte.
billiards_motion.em
Status: WORKING
system.import('work/billiards_motion.em');
runBilliards();
Click on the cue ball (the white one) and press Enter.
billiards_physics.em
Status: BUGGY
Make sure you are running the space with --loc=bulletphysics
The table will have the same orientation as the presence it's
run on, so make sure the presence is oriented sensibly!
system.import('work/billiards_physics.em');
hitCue();
You can only hit the cue once -- the second time, it will jump to a
far-away location.
billtest.prettyprint.em
billtest.vec3.em
Status: OUTDATED
Attempts at reproducing Sirikata bugs that appeared while I was
writing billiards_motion that have since been fixed.
birdGrow.em
Status: WORKING
system.import('work/birdGrow.em');
grow();
Causes a presence to grow slowly to scale 10 and then shrink.
bounce.em
Status: WORKING
system.import('work/bounce.em');
var b = new motion.Bounce(system.self, <y coordinate, e.g. -20>, <elasticity, e.g. 0.9>);
Causes system.self to bounce when it falls below a certain y
coordinate. Best combined with a change in velocity, a Gravity motion
controller, or some other form of motion to make bouncing happen.
bugdemo.em
Status: OUTDATED
Another reproduction of a bug that has now been fixed.
butterfly.em
Status: BUGGY (rim shot)
Make a presence with mesh:
meerkat:///wmonroe4/butterfly.dae/optimized/butterfly.dae
system.import('work/butterfly.em');
Makes a very simple butterfly model appear to flap its wings.
spin.em
circle.em
Status: BROKEN
The fix is fairly obvious, but if all you want is circular motion,
there are better ways to achieve it.
colldemo.em
flock_stationary.em
Status: BUGGY
Collisions seem not to be detected anymore. Replacing work/* with
std/movement/* may fix the problem.
collision.em
motion.em
units.em
Status: OUTDATED
Now maintained in std/movement/
crashtest.em
Status: OUTDATED
Another bug reproduction
cycle.em
tron.em
Status: BROKEN?
Should still be working, but may be impeded by a bug in Sirikata whose
fix is not yet merged into stable (commit 01dfa7b, 17 Aug 2011).
system.import('work/tron.em'); // on your own avatar

lookAt.em
quaternion-new.em
quaternion_fromLookAt.em
tracking.em
Status: BUGGY
The first attempts at writing what is now util.Quaternion.fromLookAt
(a function which gave us no shortage of troubles).
looktest.em
Status: WORKING
now at std/shim/quaternion_lookAt_tests.em
rockettest.em
Status: WORKING
A visual test of lookAt (through motion.LookForward). Notice that
this uses the outdated version of motion.em; the new version is even
smoother because it changes orientation velocity correctly.
ovel.em
Status: WORKING
...but not particularly useful. Just some redefinitions to make
scripts shorter for when I was first playing with orientation velocity
in the scripting window.
pilot.em
soccer.em
Status: WORKING
The start of an airplane football game somewhat like Altitude
(http://altitudegame.com/).
On an object you want to be the stadium:
system.import('work/soccer.em');
Then click on that object and press Enter. Controls are
[f]-left [h]-right [g]-down [t]-up [r]-CCW [y]-CW [b]-brake
pretty.em
prettytest.em
Status: OUTDATED
Modifications to std.core.pretty (std/core/pretty.em). Checked in in
commit 35d1090 (8 June 2011).
queryDistance.em
Status: OUTDATED
An early version of Elliot Conte's distance query library (see
std/core/queryDistance.em).
required.em
requirer.em
script.em
testPersist.em
Status: BUGGY
A library written for the 17-18 Aug hackathon, which allows a user to
pass several script files as a package to another entity, and makes
that script persist. Persistence appears not to be working, but the
script passing is working. Warning: this script makes use of
functions that are insecure and deprecated and may be removed in a
future build.
See the comment at the bottom of script.em for example usage (ignore
everything after the @@@).
vending.em
vending_clone.em
Status: BROKEN?
Makes the selected object dispense ice cream bars when touched.
Also temporarily broken by bug fixed in 01dfa7b.
Select the object you want to be an ice cream vendor, then
system.import('work/vending.em'); // on your own avatar
weather.em
Status: WORKING
system.import('work/weather.em');
makeClouds();
startLightning();
makePrecip();
// wait for a while for all the rain to get created
startPrecip();
// also try:
snow();
stopLightning();
zombies
carGenerator-bound2.em
facilityGenerator.em
facilitymeshes.em
facilitytypes.em
hatchetGenerator.em
islandGenerator.em
streetGenerator-standalone.em
vertexGridGenerator-standalone.em
Status: BROKEN
May be fixable by moving to a folder called test/ and surgically
removing all references to park generation.
system.import('test/vertexGridGenerator-standalone.em');
// on your own avatar
