Collections are groups of content with metadata. They're intended to group together content in logical ways. Collections will primarily come from two places:

  • Users creating them
  • Web crawlers generating collections from a page with lots of direct links to content

Collections serve as the jump-off for package oriented services. In the future we'll be able to generate & maintain bagit bags, dat data packages, GitHub data repos, etc.

Based on feedback from events, we're realizing that many experts work with data from a number of different places, we can use collections to represent these relationships, allowing domain experts to group content from a number of sources & make notes on how / why these pieces of content belong in a group.

This feature will need to be implemented in the archive core library, and then plumbed up through the patchbay service before we can implement it on the client.
