Could be interesting. I won't make this a huge priority right now, but I'll leave the issue open to do more research and see if anyone else likes the idea.
My biggest questions are: can I readily determine the size of a remote video before pulling it into the server to download, extract the audio from, and upload. What if someone links a video that's hours long and could easily fill up the available storage in the hardware running the subvert instance?

That could be limited showing a previous statement with the limited upload lenght and a simple error message if duration limit is not fulfilled.
By the way, we have plans to use subvert within our team and not giving public access (by now). So that probably could be managed in a proper way after implement the basic feature perhaps using the Vimeo API.
Could be a major break for everyone looking for using the tool with software like Vimeo.
Download, use and upload again is a really some waste of resources.
