bad DMF on connect prevents DMF hot reload #2079

Malformed DMF causes the client to error during connect, which just leaves a blank white window and the client non-responsive. Sending dmf hot reload commands also does not work.

Do you remember what the error was exactly? I induced one by not finishing a string, which caused this, so this is a problem with a specific error not being caught.
