I took the initial release from 18.July 2022 and modified it for my purposes. I am using a Bondtech LGX lite, Mellows NF crazy hotend with that bigger heat block, umbilical cord, no LEDs in the toolhead.

Modifications:

  • Core modifications:
    • moved the inside deck, where the top of the hotend touches the core, up 9 mm. For one the inside lower deck seemed to thick. Secondly the bigger heat block would make the nozzle sit lower than needed, as this wastes overall max printing height by that amount (not a big deal, but none the less) and also requires the part cooling fan ducts to be bigger. With the 9mm higher Hotend, the normal height of a normal mosquito style hotend is achieved and one can use the smaller dan ducts. This saves weight overall in the toolhead, which is also a plus.
    • modified the inside geometry, to make more room for the heat block, to be further away (more spacing), reducing the risk of melting the core
    • changed / deleted some of the whole-outs to work with the Bondtech LGX Lite.
    • had to design a adapter plate for the Bondtech LGX Lite as well; added to inserts on the top front, while using the inserts in the carrier to mount the adapter
    • designed a mount for umbilical cord
    • deleted the parts required for the PCB (as I don’t need them; could easily be added again)
    • designed a insert mount an the left side, to attach the “hotend pincher”
    • designed an pincher / pressing part, which presses agains the cooling body of the hotend, to fix it better
    • multiple fine-tuning changes to improve spacings, weight, stability and printability
  • Fan front brace modifications:
    • losing the fan insert completely. I really don’t see the point of it. The air flow winglets don’t do much in such a small form factor. Reducing the weight (only slightly, because….)
    • used the 2mm depth gained by loosing the fan insert do thicken / strengthen the core a bit the core a bit. Was necessary anyway, because the part cooling brace position can not really be changed, unless changing a lot of the angles etc.
    • loosing the LED slot
    • moved the fan and screw whole-outs up, to better fit the new hotend position
  • ADLX (temporary) mount, which can be attached to the fan front brace
  • Carrier > changes the bottom geometry to lift up the klicky mount magnets, to now fit with the raised hotend, while using a unklicky BFP.
